Total Knee replacement is the most commonly performed surgery for advanced arthritis in patients over more than 60 years. Often patients come very late in the natural history of degenerative osteoarthritis resulting in gross deformities. It is challenging for the surgeon to treat them. However, Preethi hospital is equipped with skills and resources to treat them showing excellent and reproducible results.
Case example 1: Severe Bilateral Osteoarthritis Knee with Varus deformity. Managed with TKR Semi constraint type of prosthesis.
Case example 2: Severe Bilateral Osteoarthritis knee with Varus deformity and Fixed flexion deformity with medial tibial bone loss. Managed with TKR with medial tibial screws and Stem augmentation.
Uni condylar Knee arthroplasty is a procedure, where only the degenerative side of the Joint is replaced, conserving the normal portion of the joint. This is usually done in symptomatic patients presenting with a very early stage of Osteoarthritis, a condition called Anteromedial Osteoarthritis.
Case example 3: UKA – Patient with Left Medial compartment Osteoarthritis, with stress views showing intact lateral joint space, with correctable Varus deformity. Managed with UKA.
Total Hip Replacement is commonly performed for fractures in the elderly population due to weak osteoporotic bone. It’s also commonly performed for young in the Indian sub-continent for Avascular Necrosis and Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Preethi hospital can perform bilateral hip replacement in these young patients who can lead a healthy and active life. Many patients are benefitted from these procedures returning to their earlier status otherwise they were very much incapacitated due to illness.

Orthopaedic oncology is an emerging branch with few reconstructive surgeons available. Patients with bone tumours usually need to travel to far-off places like Mumbai, Chennai and Coimbatore to get treatment. Tumours left apart, Joint replacement of the hip and knee using custom mega-prosthesis has its application in the treatment of complex periarticular fractures in the elderly with the advantage of getting the patient to reach the pre-injury status at the earliest possible, without any need to wait for fracture union in an already fragile patient.
Case Examples 1 & 2: Total Knee Replacement using Custom Distal femur (Case1) and proximal femur replacement (Case 2) mega-prosthesis after complete resection of the pathological distal femur and proximal femur in cases 1 and 2 respectively
TEA as it is called is commonly performed in advanced arthritis like rheumatoid arthritis, and posttraumatic arthritis. However, due to the recent increase in high-velocity side swipe injuries where there is bone loss and failed reconstruction, TEA is a salvage procedure. Preethi Hospital has a high success rate in a TEA in young patients.

Hemiarthroplasty is a commonly performed procedure for severely comminuted osteoporotic fractures. However, if the patient has rotator cuff insufficiency along with non-reconstructuble fracture Reverse shoulder Arthroplasty is being performed in our centre.
